Mental Health in Schools
Educators do tremendous work every day.
Nurturing the social-emotional well-being of students with diverse needs is challenging and rewarding.
I partner with schools to build capacity, confidence, and competence in meeting those needs.
“The training workshops delivered by Michelle Brode were amazing! Michelle’s delivery and approach helped all the attendees feel understood, hopeful, empowered, and confident in helping teens. We are planning to do more trainings next year.”

Mental Health First Aid is a skills-based training course that teaches participants about mental health and substance-use challenges. Learn more about Mental Health First Aid®
I offer two Mental Health First Aid® courses, each of which helps build your school’s capacity to meet social-emotional needs, and your students’ capacity to thrive.
Teen Mental Health First Aid®
For 10th, 11th, and 12th Grade Students
You know the facts:
1 in 5 students will experience a mental health condition.
Suicide is the second leading cause of death among 14-24 year olds.
Teens prefer to talk to their peers about the challenges they’re facing.
Teen Mental Health First Aid gives students the tools to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use concerns among their friends. Teens learn to have supportive conversations with peers and get responsible and trusted adults involved as needed.
Research shows that after taking this course, teens report:
Increased mental health literacy
Increased confidence
Increased positive views of mental health professionals
Decreased psychological stress
